SAF is a registered organisation with the Australian Sports Foundation (ASF). The ASF is a deductible gift recipient (DGR) created to support the development of sport in Australia. By registering with ASF and utilizing ASF’s DGR status, donors to SAF are able to claim tax relief for any donation of $2 or more. By utilizing ASF’s donation portal, donors to SAF nominate SAF as their preferred beneficiary and following the donation ASF grant the monies raised to SAF.
Established by the Australian Government, the ASF delivers key sport granting programs in line with the Australian Government’s sport policy objectives, providing opportunities for sport and community organisations, government and educational bodies to fundraise for defined sports projects in a tax effective manner. Funds raised by eligible organisations in partnership with the ASF complement other funding sources within the Australian sports sector. Eligible organisations include all non-profit organisations in Australia that raise funds in partnership with the ASF, such as national and state sporting organisations and local sports clubs.
Please see ASF’s terms and conditions available at asf.org.au/terms-conditions. Please note that if ASF’s terms of use are amended, SAF’s terms of use will also be amended accordingly.
SAF, with the support of ASF is seeking to raise funds in order to provide grants to successful applicants. As a not-for-profit organisation SAF relies on sponsorship, grants and donations to survive and took the opportunity to register with the ASF and through their program can now offer businesses and individuals the opportunity to donate cash towards a great cause with the added benefits of it being a tax deductible donation.
Payments made will be processed through ASF’s website in order to utilise its DGR status. Because ASF is fully self-funded, ASF retains a small amount of all donations to support its work – including providing tax deductible fundraising capabilities for the benefit of the Australian sporting community, and providing support to sporting and community groups in connection with their fundraising efforts.
The amounts retained by ASF are as follows:
Credit card donations can be made via ASF with VISA, MasterCard or AMEX. These cards attract transaction fees as follows:
All donations are non-refundable. However, where unauthorised use of a credit or payment card is reported to your card issuer and the unauthorised nature of that use is accepted, then the donation will be refunded unless it has already been granted by ASF to SAF.
