Congratulations to Honour Roll Member who has been selected for the Australian Paralympic Team in Athletices. Dayna applied for a grant when she was 16 years old, and was awarded the Pathway to Paralympic Grant.

Dayna applied for a grant to help support the cost and modfiied equipment she needed as a thrower in Javelin and Shot Put. Fast forward after 5 years of training and building her experience by representing Australia at the Oceania Championships and the World Para-Athletics Championships, she has now secured her spot on the team bound for Paris.

Dayna Crees started her journey in Para-sport after a suggestion from her physiotherapist.

When she was 12, she started her journey as a runner and jumper (100m, 200m and long jump) and then progressed into standing throwing, shot put and discus.

Although Dayna still holds Australian youth long jump records, she’s excelled in throwing as she transitioned to seated competitions. In the F34 classification, she holds every Australian under-15 to open record in shot put, discus and javelin.

In 2019, at the Arafura Games in Darwin, Dayna picked up third place. She didn’t expect to finish on the dais, so had started heading back to the hotel when she received a message that she’d won bronze, quickly making her way back for the presentation ceremony.

At the 2023 Victorian open championships, Dayna set a significant mark in the javelin with a throw of 16.25m. Not only did it raise her own Australian record it would earn her selection in the Australian team for the world championships in Paris.

In 2023, she broke Australian and Oceania records in Javelin F34 in her World Championship debut, placing fourth and is definitely one to watch.
